Sam & Mark

Sam and Mark are quite a pair…and Skylark has had the good pleasure of working on their latest social media campaign. These successful television personalities began a wildly exciting journey in 2003 through their shared energy and mutual friendship formed on the set of the Pop Idol series.

Following a guest appearance on Saturday Top Of The Pops they joined Ferne Cotton on Top Of The Pops Reloaded which catapulted them into a successful series of TMi and a BAFTA Award for ‘Level Up’, a live daily breakfast magazine show. Last year they began presenting the CBBC show ‘Sam & Mark’s Big Friday Wind Up’ and this year the pair are taking each other on, skate to skate, in ITV 1s latest series of ‘Dancing on Ice’.

Prior to this latest exciting ‘Dancing on Ice’ venture, Skylark Creative was commissioned to put together a 360 digital media solution encompassing a brand new website, Facebook Fan page, Twitter page and You Tube channel.

Skylark wanted to consider and recreate the interactive nature of their work and their charismatic personalities by infusing it into the overall design of the project. There was no question that Sam and Mark needed all the most popular social media platforms at their fingertips to continually connect with their fan base. However, the challenge was to bring all these channels together onto their main site creating a central hub that was both interesting and inviting, without overwhelming or distracting its viewers.

Following what is typically a successful structure for well known celebrities, a column based design was utilised to hold their You Tube Channel, Twitter Feed and Facebook. All platforms are linked and together they create traffic in multiple directions allowing viewers to connect and share each piece.

While the content was the eye catcher of the website, the logo design, look and feel of the site needed to support and not distract the viewer. Sam and Mark also wanted to give their image a fresh, smart transformation. The logo therefore was kept simple and sharp and the colours of the site neutral with sporadic bright blocks of colour. The home page of the site was continually tweaked to perfection but once this was settled the rest of the page design followed suit.

Overall, definitely a site that leaves you with no other options but to click through and engage. It is regularly updated and is great to see a website designed and developed with a continual flow of traffic moving through it.

Meet the pair!
